Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at INFO@CULVERTCLEANINGSERVICES.COM if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Culvert Cleaning Services LLc. specializes in residential driveway culverts within the City of Cape Coral Florida.  These culverts are typically 15-30 ft. in length and 12-36 inches in diameter. We estimate there are over 60,000 residential culverts within Cape Coral.  We also estimate over 80% of the culverts are over the 20% debris threshold and need to be cleaned for proper water flow.

We designed the company to keep the cost affordable-this allows us to reach more homeowners that can prevent flooding in their homes. The equipment utilized is very expensive and can range from $100,000 to over $500,000 for the larger vacuum trucks. We seek and utilize equipment leasing options during low-cost operational times for the equipment. We then use the equipment in rapid time frame usually 1- week per month to reach our customers that have reservations at $0 cost and they can cancel at any time.  This is a win-win situation for the customers and the company.

Yes, we provide free inspection reports for culverts within the City of Cape Coral Florida. We will personally visit your culvert location and give you a free detailed inspection report with photos! This is a great way to maintain your property and be informed--no obligation.

Your culvert should be inspected at least once a year--especially prior to raining season/hurricane season. Check for blockages, debris or clogged ends. Based on our experience, the age of the home usually determines the % of debris levels and need for service.

HOMES AGE:

  • 1-5 years old                 Required clean out:   25%           of the homes require cleanout
  • 5-10 years old                                                          60%            of the homes require cleanout
  • 10-15 years old                                                        85%            of the homes require cleanout
  • 15+ years old                                                            95-100%    of the homes require cleanout

Cleaning Schedule:  After your culvert is cleaned out you can expect the need for service:

  • High Debris Levels & Flow                     every   1-3 years
  • Low/Middle Debris Levels                     every   3-5 years +

We recommend a visual inspection by the homeowner or CCS yearly.

We dump our slurry mix at Waste Management Landfill in Immokalee FL. Yes, we are a environmentally conscious company. All debris, water and slurry mix is removed from the culvert site, and no water, mix or debris is left behind. We follow all guidelines set by Florida Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA) as well as the City of Cape Coral Stormwater Division ordinances.

NO!

At CCS we strive to make the process as easy and flexible as possible. The homeowner does not need to be home at the time of the inspection or culvert cleaning. We document the process thru Video & Photos & Written Report via email. We stay in constant contact with our customers with updates. We do ask that the area directly in front of the driveway is clear of vehicles, trash cans or other obstructions. Our truck/trailer will need the area to park next to the culvert.

Culverts play a crucial role in managing water flow and should be regularly cleaned and inspected. As homeowners you want to avoid localized flooding, blockages, erosion and infrastructure issues.  We want to prevent flooding as much as possible by keeping the water flowing to the storm drains.

NO, we do not charge credit card fees. You can pay through our secure website via Visa, Mastercard, Amex, cash or check. Also in person when your culvert has been cleaned.

NO, the City of Cape Coral nor Lee County will maintain or clean your residential culvert.  They maintain their own infrastructure.  This is a big misconception about residential culverts. Homeowners are responsible for all maintaining their culvert as it is on private property.

NO, our process does not damage the swale or surrounding landscaping. It is basically "touchless". We vacuum all debris from both sides of the culvert into the debris tank. We use the latest technology of high-pressure hydro-blasting with a high-powered vacuum excavator to loosen and remove all debris. The area will be wet from the hydro-blasting but that is expected. See our video for a better understanding of the process.

As a homeowner you can help keep your culvert from being clogged. On each end use a shovel to remove grass or debris directly in front of the culvert ends. The culvert pipe should be exposed slightly. You can also us a rake to remove debris from the first few feet in front of the culvert.

You will not be able to reach in very far but you will remove some debris. Contact CCS for a inspection if you need further information.
